Birmingham Ratha Yatra
The Birmingham Ratha Yatra festival on 10th August was also a brilliant parade marvelled with some style. The opening ceremony was performed by his holiness Jayapataka Swami accompanied by Lord Mayor of Birmingham. The splendidly decorated chariot started from Victoria square at the junction of three streets. The square is also the site for Birmingham town hall and several public art works including the Iron man. Hundreds of devotees were eager to pull the grand chariot towards the city centre.
Despite bad weather devotees came to visit our stand and shared stories of their Mayapur experience with us. We gave out many photos and leaflets. The Mayapur stall was upgraded with its stunning display of Sri Nrsimhadev and Panctattva art - photos donated by a non-devotee. The older generation and the non technical jives thanked us and said they deeply appreciated our service as they always had dreams of going to Mayapur but were not sure who to contact and how to get there. We wrote down their addresses and promised to post them information.
We were excited to be graced by the presence of HG Jaypataka Swami who never fails to visit our stand and give us encouragement and blessings. He expressed his deep thanks in us supporting him in this project.
