Cardiff Ratha Yatra was a huge festival celebrated on 9th August 2008 organised by ISKCON Cardiff. The lively cultural festival was featured with a huge chariot of Lord Jagannath, Subhadra Maharani and Baladev. The chariot procession was joined by hundreds of people through the high street ending up in a beautiful vegetated park surrounded by an old castle famous for its 19th century Gothic revival architecture.
Despite heavy rainfall throughout the day, many devotees and non-devotees curious to know about Mayapur frequently visited the cosy Mayapur tent. Young children were very excited chanting the Maha-mantra that we distributed and astonished with mouth wide open to see the images of the deities placed on the Mayapur table. Tarakanatha Prabhu thanked us for attending the event despite bad weather. He also invited us to next year’s Ratha Yatra.
