Launch of Gap Year 2011 in Mayapur

By Sukanti Radha dasi

Are you tired of mundane studying? Thinking of taking a gap year? Don’t know where to go?

Well no need to think further as Mayapur Worldwide and Mayapur Institute of Higher Education (MIHET) has just launched a brand new "Gap Year 2011" programme during Nrsingadev Caturdasi.

The programme holds a colourful array of events guaranteed to transform your heart and give you an opportunity to immerse yourself into the energy of the holy dham.

A peace of mind for any student! A relief for any parent!

Many students from the Bhakti shastri course repeatedly complain that they wish they could spend more time in the dham before or after their course. This inspired us to meet the needs of the students. As you know in ISKCON Mayapur we are very particular about meeting the needs of the students as they are the future of ISKCON.

The Gap year programme is a very relaxed programme that acts as a prelude to the Bhakti Shastri course giving students more time to come relax and relish the mood and lifestyle which Bhakti Shastri students cannot seem to get enough of.

The Gap Year programme includes:

  • Learning to play musical instruments
  • Deity worship course
  • Bhakti shastri
  • Learn basic Bengali (optional)
  • Weekly feed the village programme with Shastra das
  • Attendance and special services at all major festivals in Mayapur including Gaura Purnima 2012
  • Numerous services at major ISKCON Mayapur projects
  • Annual “Bhakti Yoga” summer university tour with students worldwide conducted by Bhuta Bhavna das
  • Personal development Programme

Outcomes

By the end of the programme depending on the student’s degree of commitment and expectation we are hoping to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Happily relaxed students ready to take on worldly challenges
  • Ambassadors of ISKCON
  • Understanding of Srila Prabhupada’s books and mission
  • Behaviour that depicts acceptable humble state of being and appreciating
  • Instrument players to conduct kirtan
  • Fun filled spiritual experience
  • AND MANY MORE!

We regret this programme is for devotee students ONLY.

The programme will be carefully mentored by Padmanayana das from MIHET. A certificate and a special AWARD from Sri Sri Radha Madhav will be awarded to all successfully completing one year stay in Mayapur. This programme CONCEPT has been developed by Mayapur Worldwide for MIHET but the programme itself will be the responsibility of MIHET.
